Cayetano said that vonAppen's constant criticism of the lack of support the program is receiving is not being taken well by fans. "He has to understand that he needs the support of the guy on the street," said Cayetano, who also voiced his displeasure that vonAppen failed to attend a banquet in honor of UH boosters who contributed funds to the program. ---- The following are the tentative starters for the UH Rainbows in their season-opening football game against Minnesota on Saturday: ==Defense== Safeties: Eddie Klaneski, Chris Shinnick Corners: Robbie Robinson, Al Hunter Linebackers: Rufus Ayeni, Stephen Gonzales, Doug Rosevold, Brian Chapman Line: Ellie Kapihe, Bob Pigott, Ben Bright ==Offense== Wideouts: Wesley Morris, Eleu Kane Tight end: Armondo Morlos Tackles: Adrian Klemm, Kaulana Noa Guards: Conrad Paulo, Gary Krug Center: Shane Oliveira Quarterback: Tim Carey Backs: Quincy Jacobs, Morrie Roe ==Specialists== Punter: Chad Shrout Kicker: Eric Hannum Long snapper: Tyler Tanigawa ---- The *Hon Adv* announced its 1997 high school preseason All-State football team today: ==Offense== QB--Jason Gesser, St. Louis, Sr, RB--Jacob Ordenstein, Kamehameha, Sr. RB--Joe Igber, Iolani, Jr. RB--Kevin Tarpley, Honokaa, Sr. WR--Craig Stutzman, St. Louis, Sr. WR--Kaui Ho, St. Louis, Jr. OL--Rockne Freitas, Kamehameha, Sr. OL--Ray Fonoti, Aiea, Sr. OL--William Lobendahn, St. Louis, Sr. OL--Aukuso Tuilemotu, McKinley, Sr. OL--Auniutea Tuilemotu, Leilehua, Sr. K---Nicholas Schreiner, Pac-Five, Sr. ==Defense== DL--Tony Tata, St. Louis, Sr. DL--Ing Aleaga, Aiea, Sr. DL--Sam Taulealea, St. Louis, Sr. DL--Whit Sosene, Waianae, Sr. DL--Lauvale Sape, Leilehua, Sr. LB--Fabian Manumaleuna, St. Louis, Sr. LB--Matt Wright, Iolani, Sr. LB--Joseph Siofele, St. Louis, Jr. LB--Robby Takara, Campbell, Sr. DB--Geste Ornellas, St. Louis, Sr. DB--Keala Loo, St. Louis, Sr. DB--Nate Jackson, Waianae, Sr. ---- The BYU-Hawaii women's volleyball team, 30-1 in 1996, will seek its fourth consecutive NAIA National title this season with a revamped but potentially potent lineup.
