House Votes on Raising The General Excise Tax The second round of voting for various tax measures was held April 14. The following is the floor vote at the state House to raise the GE tax by 12.5% to 4.5%. The latest bill to contain the increase (as of press time) was SB 2259 SD1 HD1. House and Senate conferees were to hammer out an agreement before the end of the extended session. The GE tax increase will most likely be dropped due to resistence by the State Senate.
