When I really want to know what's happening in the Islands, I catch the H4, (www.hotspotshawaii.com), a pioneering Web site by Rabbit Abbott (Robert "Rabbett" Abbett), a veteran Honolulu disk jockey who's created a Net version of Arthur Godfrey's old-fashioned radio talk show.

The H4 connects the world's displaced Hawaiians via the Internet. The name's an ironic play on the "interstate" freeways that don't connect Hawai`i to the other 49 states.

Always evolving, H4 is Rabbit's
(Rabbett's) "expression of a personal love affair with this very special place," an eclectic, interactive pastiche of Hawai`i, featuring beaches, bikini's sunsets, backyard luaus, recipes and important info like surf reports, current temperatures and volcanic eruptions. Check it out.
