I've been trying for the last 29 days to get paypal to work.
It took me two weeks before they would give me a support number.
The support people won't let me talk to any supervisors or tech people.
They don't like my banks, they don't want to help. They won't tell me what's wrong.
They tell me there is something wrong with the security of my banks. Both banks report
that dozens of their customers use paypal successfully and are scratching their heads over paypals stance.
paypal support actually told me twice that I should just keep trying opening bank accounts at other financial institutions until one works.
They refuse to tell me which banks work or make any other recommendations.
How dumb is that?
They tell me if I don't like it, that's just life, we're sorry, we can't help you, etc...
It's been a nightmare.
My credit card company which has even more stringent security measures than paypal, thinks my banks are great and we have never ever had a problem. They are also responsive and the rates to use them are cheaper than paypal.
So I have decided to forget trying to make it work for now.
I was never able to retrieve donations made via paypal no matter how many accounts or credit cards, or which combinations I tried and as of 11/29/01 I have cancelled the "account from hell".
I have written those who tried to donate via that service and asked that they either consider using the credit card system that I have in place or to send in their donations via check.
In paypalese, I had to "deny their payments" and then cancelled my account.
(This is another option they gave me, deny all the donations, cancel and then sign up again.)
Like yeah sure, I'm gonna sign up again - uh huh - No way! I got better things to do - like program IRH.
So thanks to those for trying.
I'll leave notice of their donations up online for a week and if these folks can let me know that their donations will come in via another form I'll keep the record of them and their donations up on the pages. If after two weeks I hear nothing from them, I will have to eliminate the listings of these donations and minus the donations from our current Bandwidth-Athon.
I am very sorry to have to put anyone through extra hassles but honestly after over 30 hours of trying, paypal can take a hike as far as I am concerned.
