Midsummer day 1997 in Sydney Australia began early for many people who had ventured down to Bronte Beach for a dip at 6 am. It was cool relief after the weather had remained unusually sultry overnight. Bronte is a popular spot, as the oceanside bath commands a wonderful view and many cafes line the road above. There is also a beautiful walkway that stretches along the cliffs for 10 kilometers.

This interactive panorama (CCBronte.MOV) was photographed with a Kodak DC40 (a consumer-grade digital camera). My rig is a simple Manfrotto tripod with a custom bracket. Apple QuickTime VR software was used to stitch the 24 adjacent images together, and Movie Cleaner by Terran Interactive was used to compress the movie using the Cinepak codec.

Ron Lubensky has a degree in Computing Science and has been building interactive media solutions for 10 years. Ron specialises in computer-assisted learning and information products using Macromedia authoring software, delivered on CD-ROM, internet or kiosk. He also creates interactive panoramas and integrates them into customer applications.

When he's not programming his brains out for several clients at once, Ron may be seen scurrying away with a panoramic rig on his back or a pair of skis underfoot.
