Sandys

11/11/96 - Veterans' Day, and my 43rd year on the planet... From Makapu`u I went down to Sandys...and the surf was raging there too. I shot this one around noon. Can you find a ghost? We have one in this VR. I am really surprised there weren't more ghosts as alot of folks walked on thru the shoot unknowingly. Several Lifeguards were out patrolling on Jet Skis just in case.

If you look close, you can see the Halona Blow Hole spouting. It's on the right side of the water in the point of land sticking out...look for the plume.

Sandys is not for beginners. There is at least one broken neck down there every year...the waves are merciless. In close to shore, you can ride a quick tube and then bail, and if you don't, you get pounded (literally) into the sand along the shore. Beginners should never try Sandys...Never!

After this shoot, I went home and went body surfing in Kailua Bay...was good fun. We had 3-6 footers...whew!

If you are really well connected (pardon the pun) and you want a higher res version of this VR to check out...It's a Meg in size High Res Movies allow you to see more detail as you zoom in....kinda.
