My daughter and I spent the day on Kaua`i. In the morning we had gone out to Waimea Canyon and in the early afternoon we zoomed on in to Koloa Town. In May, I had unsuccessfully shot a "panoramic sculpture" dedicated to and saluting the first sugar workers on Kaua`i. Koloa is the site of where Kaua`i's 1st Sugar Mill was located.
This time I got a couple mechanical bugs worked out in setting up my tripod within the sculpture and here is what it looks like when you're inside the thing. As you can see, the sculptor, Jay Gordon Fisher, included a member of every race on the island at the time. This is one of those easily missed pieces of history on Kaua`i. It is located in a small park right down in Koloa Town...a subsequent VR will show you the location as I pan around downtown Koloa Town - Next Page!
