Kahalu`u Stream at Kaneohe Bay, O'ahu

February 15th, 1999

About 2 p.m.
I was on my way to an appointment in Kahalu`u and being a little early I pulled in to where Kahalu`u Stream meets the ocean water of Kaneohe Bay. It was nice and sunny and I set my tripod out among some rocks at the point.

A mother and her kids were down playing at the water's edge. The kids were pretending to jab at mystery eels with their sticks. They were also popping the blue bubbles of a couple of hapless Portuguese Man of War (jellyfish) that suffered the misfortune of floating the ocean currents on in and amongst the boulders.

As we circle to the right we can see the new Wedding Chapel that was built for primarily Japanese tourist couples. Further on Is Noriko's Store, a gift shop specifically built for the Japanese tourist trade. Noriko's is a "shopping stop" on many around the island bus tours.

As we come around we can see where Kahalu`u Stream enters the bay. The floats on the water and the canoes on shore are for the outrigger canoe paddlers and their afternoon practices.
