Welcome to the Honolulu Zoo!
My daughter and I took a trip to the Zoo before school started. We actually got there too early - around 9 a.m. as some of the animals in the African Savannah area we're still asleep. We took a break here in the inner big field. Surrounded and almost totally covered with banyan trees, this is a great place to picnic or take a break.
Cool trade winds blast in from Diamond Head and because of the enormous spread of the trees, anywhere in the shade here is about 12 degrees cooler than being out in the sun.
Next visit, make sure you do the Honolulu Zoo. It is a lot of fun.
