Down with the Mosquitos - Nu`uanu Stream, O'ahu

Welcome to Nu`uanu Stream!

On the way home from an odd part work, part screw around Saturday, I get off the busy afternoon Pali Highway and wander up through the valley on the Old Pali Road.
I always marvel at the jungle of plants through here and decide to slide down into the streambed and get down and dirty with the lower level of life. Big leaves, dry land taro and a multitude of big leafy plants and vines cover almost everything in sight. Slipping and sliding down the side of the bank with one hand clutching the camera on the tripod was a neat trick. Trying to avoid being tripped by snarling ground vines was another skill I mastered.

Mosquitos found me very soon as I exhaled their favorite carbon monoxide into their low level flying lanes. Within minutes I was sinking in mud, spinning the camera and shooting and blowing and swatting mosquitos like a pro. This is what I got for the effort.
