Quick Time VR by Paul Simmons of Virtual Horizons

Chinatown in London, England

December 21st 1997 7p.m (GMT) 228k (fast start QTVR version 1))

Taken with the Fuji DS-7 camera with a Raynox DSR 650 wide angle lens mounted on a Kiwi+ pano head and Centon PV-27 tripod. Photovista and QTVRAS 1.0 and cinepak compression 25% used for authoring.

As I was casing the joint for the best position to set up, there was a man playing an unusual musical instrument ( a one stringed thin cello type instrument ) to a backing tape ( in the pano he's packing up his suitcase at the nearest lampost ). In the context of the wrinkle2 panos that Rabbett is suggesting ( with soundfiles ) the inclusion of the sounds of the street would've enhanced the atmosphere of this panorama for you the viewer, of this very busy and popular part of Central London.

A warm glow in the knowledge that at the exact time many others were braving the elements all round the world. My partner at Virtual Horizons Jim Mackay was somewhere in north London getting thrown off the railway platform at Kings Cross, but that story I will leave to him.

Happy New Year VR-tists.
