Aloha and welcome to Mel's Hawaii website. This page serves as the gateway to Mel's Hawaii Island Photos section online, which has been here at H4, Hawaii's Data SuperHighway almost from the time the place opened. (We're talking 1995 here which is almost ancient history as far as the web goes.)

The photo albums at this site take you to many locales on the Big Island of Hawaii as well as to places on Oahu and Honolulu in particular. One of the site's showcases is Honokaa, Hawaii, a former plantation town that has survived changing economic times with great resilience as it moves from a sugar economy to one that is much more diversified. Photo highlights of Hilo, Kona, and Kohala also dot the Big Island landscape here at Mel's Hawaii.

There are 2 sections on solar eclipses. The original section on the 1991 Solar Eclipse was created about 9 years ago and the newest eclipse page documenting the 2004 Partial Solar Eclipse shot from the Kakaako Waterfront Park. While not as spectacular as a full-blown total eclipse, this partial eclipse definitely had its moments, especially as the sun neared the horizon.

Newly added is the Kauai island photos. Pix from Lihue up to some of the Northern areas on the Garden Island are here including Hanalei and the Kilauea Lighthouse and Bird Sancutary.
