Waimanalo Library continues to offer individual tutoring and small group classes at its computer assisted learning center this summer. Windward School for Adults will offer an Independent Skills class at the center mid June to July 31. Adults may work on reading, writing, spelling and basic math to brush up on skills, or work on job skills, such as resume writing, typing and computer awareness. Adults may also study for the GED test or work on CB units for their high school diploma. If the library closes for renovations, the center will move to Blanche Pope School for the summer.
This fall the library will team with Head Start and Queen Lili'uokalani Children's Center to offer classes for Waimanalo families. Parents will attend morning sessions three times a week at the center while their children attend Head Start. Child care for younger children will be provided in a new "Keiki Corner" at the library.
Applications for Keiki Corner supervisors are now being accepted. The center is also seeking volunteers to help tutor adults and monitor computer assisted learning.
